Is this ok for a Dutch clip?

I'm hanging at a local spot tonight, and decided on this as one of my trees. It's larger than my huggers are long, so my whoopie sling had to run through the Dutch clip. The question is, should I relocate to a smaller tree? Is the Ti Dutch clip ok on the amsteel?

Alas, that picture is so blurry it doesn't provide any context.

How does your hammock attach to the whoopie, and how does the whoopie attach to the strap/hugger?

HAH! you updated the blurry pic as I was posting, and it didn't show me that it quoted the new pics.

It'll probably be fine. However, if you're worried you can just pop the dutch clip off (careful to not lose it) and thread the whoopie through the loop that the dutch clip is currently hooked to. That way you'll have rope-on-strap, not rope-on-metal, so less chance of any potential damage or failure.

The pictures I'm looking at are in focus.
In a pinch I would hang that way but those really are short tree straps.
Moving the rig so the amsteel has less bend in the dutch clip would reduce the strain on the whoopie.

I'm pretty sure they are designed to do exactly what you did.

Amsteel is more abrasion and cut resistant than the webbing. I would be comfortable hanging as depicted in your photos.

As OutandBack stated, the lower the bend angle over the clip, the better it is on either amsteel or webbing.

I got up and rerouted the whoopie through the loop on the strap.

As for the length of the strap, it's 6ft, which I believe is pretty standard for tree huggers. If I was using cinch buckle suspension instead of whoopies, I'd go for longer straps.

That is the way I hang all the time. I rarely use longer than 4 foot huggers. And you did it right with keeping the supporting line as straight as possible. If you would have had the the Dutch clip on the left side of the tree it would have caused more stress. The only thin is I think that is upside down. it doesn't matter so much on webbing but the amsteel has play and you want gravity working for you.
    Peace Dutch

I would never have thought to do that. There's one to tuck away for future reference.
