New River and Owyhee on the way...

After much hand wringing, sleepless nights and TONS of research I have FINALLY decided to get a set of quilts! Actually, none of that happened; Paul's reputation made up my mind some time ago.

I'm tired of being cold, more specifically, I'm tired of fighting the cold. Layer upon layer of longjohns, fleece, blah, blah blah... The coldest temp I am likely to sleep in is 15°, so I went with the 4 Season New River and the 3 Season Owyhee. It seems overkill, even to me, to buy a quilt with such a low temp rating; but with all my past injuries the cold is just too much anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed sleeping on the ragged edge with my old sleeping bag, Orca, PLUQ and layered clothing; but I am looking forward to sleeping in my skivvies in 25° weather!

    Gonna be so AWESOME!

Congrats on the purchase it's a great combination, my first quilts were a New River and Owyhee. I might get another Owyhee just use in the house.

Looking good! Let us know how the quilts perform. Also, can you post a picture of the Owyhee in its stuff sack so I can see how small it is?

I'm going to pick up an Owyhee at some point to go with my jarbidge. I've been using my incubator/burrow setup, but I want the synthetic set too.
Why? Because I'm a big kid... and kids like toys.

Here is the Owyhee (25°) and the New River (10°) next to a Nalgene bottle in the stuff sacks that come with them. The Owyhee is next to the Nalgene.

    Same image from the top.

Here is the Owyhee compressed, like in a compression stuff sack.

I will carry the quilts in their original stuff sacks as volume doesn't matter to my MMG Peregrine pack.

    Weights
    Owyhee 1 lb, 13.75 ounces
New River 2 lb, 10 ounces
    Total 4 lbs, 7.75 ounces

That's .25 ounces lighter than just my sleeping bag and almost 10 ounces lighter than my sleeping bag and IX underquilt; AND the new gear goes to below 20°!
