I'm wanting to get a hammock chair for my dad to take hiking and backpacking. Can anyone give me any pros and cons to these two products?

Not sure how i missed this. Sorry for the late response.
I've never used the AHE Bushman (looks like a great product) but i believe it is only designed to be a gear hammock/chair. Our UBC is made from waterproof fabric and designed to be use as a pack cover, mini tarp, chair, gear hammock, and tons of other uses.
If you have any other questions feel free to contact me. I'm more than happy to help you out.

I had just ordered a new pack cover and some tyvek. Without a doubt, had I ever looked into one of these, I'd run with the UBC.
Multi use for the win. (disclaimer, I have not checked specs on AHE....)
No experience with either but I like the suspension of the UBC over the AHE product. This would be a great item for a day hike! I'd thought of getting a Dutch hammock body and adding his speed hook suspension to build a super light and simple open hammock for day hikes. For the cost of the UBC I would be tempted to go this route so I'd have what could serve as a chair but would also work as a hammock if/when you wanted it to.

Suppose that I better throw in here to make sure that the info about our gear is correct.
The Bushman Hammock Chair is based off of the work and designs of 2 long standing member of the forum, Bushman of the Yukon and Mule. At about the same time they each worked on designing hammock chairs. I spoke with both and asked if we could design our version and offer it for sale based on their work. Each graciously agreed. For over 5 years we have offered the Bushman Hammock Chair, the first commercially available hammock chair.
We do offer our chair in breathable fabric just like what all of us use for our hammocks. Our fabrics are First Grade, USA made. We can and have made chairs out of non breathable fabrics if you should want to use it for uses other than a chair but in the interest of not out right copying another manufactures products we chose originally not to make our chair into other items like pack cover, water basin etc as Jacks Are Better had been offering a product of that nature for some years before us. Out of Respect to them we did not want to just clone their gear.
Currently we have our Hammock Chairs on out Holiday sale for $29.97 and as part of that special the suspension is upgraded to Dutches Speed Hooks. Basically the hammock chair is free with the price of suspension. We also offer the Chinch Buckle suspension or Whoopie Kit suspension as options. We have everyone covered on suspension gear. AHE has offered more suspension gear longer than any other shop, we were the first to make and sell whoopie slings, cinch buckles, custom length webbing tree straps, and most of the other common suspension components, I count it as one of our areas of expertise.
With the Speed Hook Suspension the Bushman Hammock Chair comes in at 7.5oz in the stuff sack for the 1.1 ounce fabrics.
Hope that helps but let me know if you have any further questions at all.

Yeah, me too. Not long after I posted. Now, just need that WL Camp Chair Quilt to go along with it, for a perfect match.
