About to sew up a 3/4UQ tips please!

So I had bought a used 3/4 UQ a while ago for a good deal. It does have its issues which include leaking, not too wind proof and I think lack of down for my climate or at least liking..
I am in the process of making a new cover and will send the cover to another person to stuff with the old down (I was told it was 850) and overstuff with some additional down.

I have read every instruction manual I can find so another link probably wont help to much.

My question is pretty specific.
I have my larger piece cut at 64x58 currently and the smaller piece cut at 60X (debating between 48 and 50)
I plan one running 11 baffles that are 2.5 inches height from seam to seam.
I will end the baffle before the ends by about 0.5-1 inch
I have a pretty strong sewing background and am not doing the stuffing.
My main question is what should I make the width of the inner smaller piece 48, 50,52 compared to the 58 outer width?
And is 11 baffles at 2.5 depth sound groovy.

I guess I don't mind a slightly wider quilt and warmer 3/4 as the girlfriend's kick dog and I are hammock sleeping buddies.

I would go 48. The larger the difference in the inner shell vs outer shell, i.e. differential cut, the less likely you are to compress your down, resulting in a more efficient UQ. Have you used Catsplats UQ calculator?

What about any tips or tricks that a excel chart may not provide?

Measure twice, cut once. Mark everything out while you are cutting. Work slow. Don't take short cuts. Nothing you probably haven't heard already.
I actually sewed the ends of the baffle wall material to the shell, that way each baffle is closed so no down can migrate. I sewed darts in the outer shell down the center of each baffle about 6 or 7 inches to account for the difference in widths. I sewed one small pleat in each corner to account for the length differential. You can use pleats or darts. Pleats are easier, darts look nicer, IMO.

For what it's worth: on 3/4 UQ you can go a lot narrower, and I think this helps the quilt sit tight to the hammock (less area for a gap to occur). Especially if you run shockcord along the long end.

I've made my quilts 40" wide and thats plenty. A 3/4 quilt will follow your body a lot better than a full length.
