    I would think so. You might do better by using a backer plate to spread the load, or drill your holes large enough to stack some washers or a steel spacer the depth of the drywall.

    I have to admit that the thing that caught my eye in the first picture wasn't the hammocks but the camel saddle at the desk. My parents own one and the only other one I've seen was at an antique auction.

    I might be able to talk my wife into such an idea, but we've only got room enough for one hammock in our living area and I'm pretty sure that *I* wouldn't be the one that would be enjoying it. Still, it's worth thinking about...

    Backing plates for the headers is good.

    Ceiling in the bedroom-tv room is 8' and width is 13.5 but I want one or two of those WIDE Mayans ... don't trust the site info bout hanging distance and height.

    Prolly just buy one and figure it out.

    You could even make them decorative, give them a finished look in some way. That might help the cause!
