Fill power vs Compressibilitiy

Hi all,

Can someone school me on the relationship between fill power and compressibility? Assuming the same amount of fabric is used to make 2 UQ's to the same temperature rating, will a 850 fill power down version compress more than a 700 fill power down? If so, how significant is the difference?

EDIT: I understand that the weights between the two will be different, but those specs are usually spelled out pretty clearly.

Because the 850 will loft up to a greater amount than a lower loft it fills the space inside the quilt with less down so yes it will compress more. So in other words the 850 down in the same amount of weight of down as the 700 will have a greater cubic volume. If you have X cubic inches of space to fill then it will take less 850 down to fill that space than it will with the 700.

How much more compressible it is is hard to judge, it will have less volume of material (down in this case) to need compressing but exactly how much less is difficult to describe without to identical quilts set side by side.
