That's my concern (already have enough broken stuff in this body)...maybe a beta tester can attempt it over a mattress and give us the results. This is, otherwise, the very essence of lightweight KISS, simply brilliant stuff. Plus it will easily allow the separation of smutty suspension from the hammock body for packing up. Looking into an 11' PolyD hammock (or two) with these and an adjustable SRL for the wife (and I). Very curious about the secret squirrel skeeter net/sock coming too.

Hey Dutch, on my ridgerunner I've been using soft shackles between the apex buckle and cinch buckles so I can disconnect the suspension when wet. I've ordered this speed hook suspension to replace this and was wondering what you thought the wear factor might be with the hook right onto the apex buckle or should I leave the shackle and just hook onto that? The soft shackles have worked great, by the way, but when cold and wet they're a little tough on the fingers.

I'm also looking at ways to improve my RidgeRunner suspension. so, what would be the best way using these new hooks?

put a continuous loop at the apex of the suspension and the hook fastens to it.

I just made a traingle suspension for a new hammock and put a locked brummel loop at the apex of the triangle.

The minds are already at work......

Great idea for adapting to the bridge suspension triangle.

Disclaimer: what I am going to say is only my opinion but...

Is bouncing in a hammock something that happens for you folks? Maybe the Speed Hook is not a good choice for you if you are a bouncer but I'm skeptical it would loosen without a prolonged shake and that is just not something I am concerned about. I'd be more concerned about a whoopie sliding off the MSH onto a toggle thank the SH coming undone.

I doubt that bouncing is something most serious hangers do with their hammock. Not saying you're not a serious hanger but it sounds more like something the kids might do in the backyard... and I certainly would not let them do it with my more expensive and often lighter weight hammocks and suspensions!

I'm a fellow on the larger side, the speed hook and the whoopie hook have a very similar shape. I've been using the whoopie hook for quite a while. I'm been know move around in my hammock, ask anyone who's shared a tree with me at the 501. Can say with confidence that I'd worry about some other failure point to end up on the ground before I'd worry about the hook coming off.

It seems to me the hook kinda "clicks" into place with just enough force to keep it from accidently coming off from a bounce or a gust of wind. I'll find out before the end of next week
