northern Michigan fall camping with a food theme

hi everyone this is my first posting Under trips so if I miss anything please let me know. There are a few of us that are going to camp Friday and Saturday night November 21&22 and I thought I would post it on the forum to see if anyone else was interested in going. This will be at the pinney bridge walk in campground just outside of Alba down in the jordan valley. Since it will be rifle season we would park at the parking lot off of pinney bridge rd and walk in from there instead of hiking the trail. It's only about a 200 yard walk in so we could bring food that we just are not able to on a long hike. So that's where the food theme comes in. We could bring or make things like chili, stew, biscuits and gravy and so on also meet some new fellow hammock forum members. Please let me know if anyone else is interested in going. Thanks

Thanks for planning this one, Ed! Nice job on your first post. It's always great to get together with you guys up in northern Michigan. Back in August, we all hung out together at Pinney Bridge CG and met another HF member who was there with his family.

Since food is the theme (hope you bring the bacon steaks), I'm thinking my famous apple jack dessert will compliment the jambalaya with andouille sausage that I'm planning on cooking.

You could do both. It is state land all around us. Just look at all the people that could help you drag the buck back to camp. Just a thought.

Shouldn't be any leftovers after it gets back to camp . I'm liking this food themed hang idea.

I'm actually sitting with my son so he can legally hunt...the problem is we are hunting in the UP in wolf territory, so deer numbers are down, but if our established blind produces a buck the first weekend, I'll be Hanging in the piney woods the second weekend :-)

Hope your son gets a deer and you can make it to the hang. So far there is 6 of us going, should be a good time with lots of good food. Hope to see you there and good luck hunting.

You boys better bring your snowshoes.
Its a proven fact that 78.4% of all statstics are made up on the spot.

I 2nd that. Looks like winter hanging season has started, which means I better get going on my pulk project. Temps forecasted in the 20's & 30's. Should be a nice weekend to spend out in the woods. Looks like about a half dozen of us are making it. Plenty of room for more, Stone! I have spoken
