    Ridgerunner anti tarp tear modification

After hearing that people have torn or come close to tearing their tarp with the end of the Ridgerunner spreader bar, I wanted to try and avoid this. I got 2 drawer knobs drilled them out to fit snugly on the end of the spreader bar. They go on the the opposite side to where you enter the hammock. If the hammock swings the knobs will contact the tarp providing less aggressive contact.

I like that...I did not want to cover the pins because I use them to hook my UQ suspension but this provides an even better attachment point.

When using my Mountainsmith trekking poles for spreader bars, I screw the foam knobs back on (not tight) to the camera mount, avoiding contact with that end. The camera mount end is inserted on the opposite side of entry as suggested by the OP.

Concerned about rubbing and tearing a tarp with the RR poles or with trekking poles that I normally use is why I came up with the Spreader Bar Bumpers that we have been producing for a couple years now.

They are an affordable little add on that stays on the hammock all the time and are just enough to prevent the bars from dinging the tarp up.

Would that work on the JrB BMBH?

I don't see why not...the only thing is you do need to be able to undo the suspension triangle to slide them on to where the poles thread through. It's been years and years since I saw a BMBH in person and that one had been heavily modded in the suspension department. But if memory serves you can open up both legs of the suspension triangle and slip them in place.

These rubber bumpers at AHE work great. They mostly stay in place, are easy to use, don't require loose hardware, are extremely light, and they are super cheap. I'm glad I bought them to give me a little extra assurance that I won't puncture my cuben tarp.

The bmbh has a different type of system. I can't envision the ahe bumpers working with it.
