Ever seen any winter tarp like this?

So, my appologies in advance for the horrible sketches, but, what do you think? I wanted to have a winter tarp with vertical ends / doors, vs, those that lean in towards the center of the tarp. If anyone has good design skills, is this feasable?
Here's the flat layout, cuting a wedge out of what would be the door would allow for a vertical door.

Here's what i think it would pitch like

And what it might look like in porch mode-

And what it might look like if not fully pitched to the ground tight (view of doors from the end.

(I suppose the doors could be tied out of the way too for nice weather, or, fully removable. I guess this is what the door kits are that are available, however, I want as a one piece unit.

    Thoughts?

Looks like your trying to make something like a Baker/Campfire Tent. Bill Mason swore by them and Ray Mears has used them a couple of times.

The real advantage of these tents is being able to place a fire in front of one and take advantage of the angles to retain the heat. The only problem I see is that with all of our synthetic gear, burn holes would be a major concern. I've toyed with this pattern for years but have never sewn one up.

    I think it'd be great.

I designed one similar but a little more snow load friendly.

Just a warning, with the top of the tarp anyways near as flat as depicted in the second sketch, you will be in danger of experiencing tarp collapse from a snow load.

Playing with my current tarp and seeing the various ones with side pull outs, I can see how nice they would be to give some extra head room, but not required, after all, the idea here is winter protection so you've got a good point outandback.

Chard, exactly! Gives me something to research now, thanks!

Tarp Pullouts and snow don't mix. I did a lot of backyard testing...

Ha, guess not. Best thing about this forum is not having to learn for your own mistakes.

I think the problem with my design is you'd have to have the same angle every time. I just want vertical doors, is that too much to ask

I don't understand. Maybe because im old,but I like the KIS (keep it simple) method. Why not just hang the hammock & pitch the tarp in an A configration with doors & spend a comfortable night with proper Insulation? I'm lazy & don't like extra work. Complicated things confuse me.

The use of the campfire tent by Bill Mason and a similar design by Calvin Rutstrum motivated me to give up on tents and start using only a tarp in my pre-hammock days. Liked it way better than tent camping and it would be even better with a hammock under it. Your design certainly seems to have promise...
