    Welcome from Rosenberg.

If you're heading out this weekend anyway, just drive a few dozen more miles north & come on out to the Annual Texas Hang:

Best place you could hope to go for a first hang.

+1 to what Sarge said. As a fellow Houstonian I welcome you and hope you get a chance to make the Fairfield Lake hang. Seems like a great group of people with a lot of knowledge about hammocking and the outdoors in general. Even if you can just swing by for a day or night, I would suggest it. That way you can look at various gear in person and make an educated purchase when it comes time.

I would second that suggestion as it is hunting season on the LSHT and there are restrictions on camping. Sept 26 - Jan 8 if i read the info correctly.

Although I have not experienced the hunter camps personally, I have heard they leave a lot to be desired.

Welcome from Corpus Christi btw ... lol

There are trails on the park map, but it is my first time here. Yeah if you show up, I am sure that more than one person would be willing to share a camp site with you. We should have an extra space at 33 if you do come.
