    Hennessy silnylon hex fly

I'm just getting started at hammock backpacking. I think I've found a slightly used hennessy ultralite hammock. However it does not have a rain fly with it. So, I'm trying to find a fly for it. I've read a lot about people recommending a hex fly. So, I'm trying to decide what to get. I came across a deal online for a hennessy silnylon hex fly for $95 with free shipping. Is that a good deal? Also, will this fit in the same snake skins as my hammock?

Thanks in advance for your input.

They retail for $139 through the Hennessy site and that is plus shipping so I would think 'Deal!'

I think having a separate set of snake skins for your tarp is a good idea. A wet tarp stowed with your dry hammock kind of defeats the purpose to some degree. Some folks like mesh snakeskins for the tarp so if it is wet or damp it can breathe/dry out a little.

I just got my first set of snakeskins and haven't had a chance to use them yet so take the above with a grain of salt!

Well, I knew it was to good to be true. I contacted the company to verify that it was the silnylon as states on their site. They responded and said that they only carried the 70d and that they would fix their listing.

Oh well...thanks for everyone's input. Please let me know if you know of a good deal on a hex fly(preferably silnylon).

....or let me know if you know if someone has a hennessy silnylon rain fly that fits the hennessy explorer ultralite that they would be willing to part with.

Why not just buy a tarp from Warbonnet? The Mambajamba would be an excellent choice and it's only $110. Not to mention it weighs 4oz less too.

I agree. $95 for a sil HH Hex would have been a great deal but only b/c its $15 less than the Mambajamba.

Thanks guys. Do you know how much the mambajamba weighs? Is it silnylon? I may give that some thought.

I'm fine with getting the hennessy fly that matches the hammock too(explorer ultralite). But, I can't seem to find anyone that has one that they want to part with.

+1 on the mambajamba. I have the 70D hexfly and while that thing is bomb proof, it's a pain to lug around. Heavy and not packable. Great car camping tarp though.
