Does anyone know if they make a protector compatible with my HH Expedition Asym bottom entry?I went to their site and got the impression they do all sorts of mods but could not find an answer to the question.Thanks.The impression I am getting is that ripstop is breathable where silnylon is not so ripstop would eliminate a need for a vapor barrier where silnylon would not.

This is just my opinion from trying a UQP on my bottom entry HH:
I don't know of anything made specific for bottom entry HHs other than the HH Super Shelter UnderCover.
I tried using my 2QZQ UQP with my HH BE by moving it off to the side to enter/exit. Add a 3/4 UQ to that and it was a PIA; I mean it worked but I found exiting too much of a pain for me.
My solution: Use the HH BE as a summer/bug season hammock with a pad.
My older HH used 70D nylon for the hammock body (a pretty tight weave). This along with the bug net provided adequate protection from the breeze when using a pad inside.
So, make a DIY gathered end hammock (or buy one from Dutch for $30) to use for cool weather and the UQ/UQP combo works like a charm (and this is actually when you really need it).

Now that's an idea! Thanks! It would really cut down on the weight of the winter pack quite a bit I would think.

Just looked at the Dutch site for hammocks. So would I be better off with the Poly-D or Argon hammock for cold weather use paired with an underquilt and underquilt protector?Advice appreciated here.Thanks.

There would be very little difference for protection from the cold however the ARGON is slightly thicker fabric. Also you can get the 2QZQ UQP made from ARGON so they are already family.

I have to agree with oldpappy. I have two HH BE and tried using my UQP with the BE. It was a total PITA to use that way. But, I sent my HH off to 2QZQ to have the zipper mod done and my problem was solved BTW, I prefer to keep my bug net on even in the winter. Maybe it's just me but it seems to make it just a bit warmer.

Thanks for the advice guys!Looks like argon for my winter hammock.Maybe I'm weird but I do like the bottom entry on the HH Epedition Asym as I find it easy to get in and out of.

I agree - I like my HH BE (Ultra Light Backpacker) and think it is great for keeping the bugs out. To me, Zippers are just one more thing that might fail/jam/eat fabric if/when you are in a hurry to avoid those biting bugs at dusk.
I like the openness of a gathered end hammock/UQ/UQP combo, but I also bring a small HUG bug net along to use. It's good for warming the air like dkfurfiss said and it is also handy to keep any unexpected bugs out. The HUG Bugnet works well with the UQP as well. I wrap it up on the ridge line and just pull it down if needed.
