It was a great hike. Good fellowship and everyone got to really run their cold weather gear. MCGUNS didn't make it but he was the one who suggested Sam E. Baker and it was a good recommendation. Saw deer in the parking lot and during the hike in; not that common really. A beaver chewed down a small tree withing 15 or 20 yards of our camp overnight; glad he didn't choose one of our trees!

I'm thoroughly impressed with all the gear make by Macpac and DCOFFMAN83; really high quality stuff and more importantly, it worked. Wish I had that talent, could have saved myself a LOT of money.

Came away with a new gear list and "to do" listing in my head. Next purchase? A new pair of gloves and a camp chair exactly like the one Disco has. I'll carry it on short "luxurious" hikes!!

I think there were a few casualties on this hike; we thought we lost a high end, hand sanded comb but fortunately it was found. Yup, I said "comb"; don't ask any more about that one.

Had a burn hole in my Black Rock down hat

And it was freezing that night so I proped up my feet near the fire. Eventually they felt nice and warm and I noticed vapour coming off the bottom of my sole's, kind of like what you see come off of wet socks held over the fire to dry. But after a moment I realized shoes don't do that and it was really smoke. Needless to say I melted some of the foam in the sole of my North Face Hedgehogs. Can any one say "STUPID!"?

Still, it was a great place, great guys, and a great hike. We got out just ahead of the rain and I enjoyed my traditional cheesburger on the way home; now back to work, diet....well, all that stuff!
