Followed in Gidgetgirl's footsteps - My finished DIY underquilt

So after seeing Gidgetgirl's very well put together DIY tutorial (found here) I decided to give it a shot. I also utilized Boston's mod on the CatSplat Underquilt Calculator.

I followed Gidgetgirl's lead on building in channels with the inner shell material, instead of going the grosgrain route. All in all I'm ecstatic over how well it turned out, the only thing I might modify is the method of suspension. I May sow a small grosgrain loop near each corner, and hook the return ends of my shock cord to that.

I'll be testing it out in 30~ degree weather next week.

Very well done. I'm on the fence about tackling this project. I made an IX UQ, but looking upgrade to down. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! It was a fun project, but can't say I'll be running back to do another one any time soon.

Reporting back after my first real trip using the new UQ. Spent last weekend in the Sipsey Wilderness, with lows in the high 20s--low 30s. Stayed warm and toasty all night. Could probably make it down another 10 degrees without much trouble.
