    if someone is feeling brave you can avoid the long haul up Sawyer River Rd by using the Kancamagus route- it does involve wading the Swift River at the beginning and boy is it cold. it's a short and easy 2ish mile hike that way.

    Umm, I'm going to recommend not chancing hypothermia on the way out there. But if you try it on the way out at least you're not far from your warm car

    Edit that: I don't have a map in front of me but I'm guessing the two trailheads are not near each other
