dutchware double vs speed hook ?

The Double Hammock Whoopie Hooks ,vs the speed hook anyone know if you can use The Double Hammock Whoopie Hooks as a speed hook I cant see a reason not too ,but then again I a not that well versed on either of these ,I just figured if I got the double hooks for when I finally talk the wife into hanging with me, i could use this set up ,and when I am on my own I could just use it as a speed hook.am I missing something here ,I just don't want to double up on gear that I wont use a lot

I was thinking the same thing. Can't see why it wouldn't work
The double has the figure eight design which would take a loop.

Assuming that what I have is a Double Hammock Whoopie Hook shown with the Speed Hook, I think it will work very well as a speed hook.

ah pics explain it much better, to me the only difference may be the hole size on the double setup , just wondering if because of that would it be weaker ,? not real sure that it would make that much difference I guess

I meant to say because of the hole size ,but I looked at you pics again and I realized the double is actually made slightly bigger ,so it should all be approx. the same strength

Well they at one time were the same species however they morphed into different creatures to do specific things. I would not be concerned with either part not being strong enough. A ring of 1/8th Ti is really strong. Here is my only concern and it is more in theory and so far it has not panned out in real world testing. The larger hole of the Double hammock hook might allow the half hitch to be pulled into the hole. This could wear the amsteel prematurely. I have a couple people testing them and so far it hasn't caused wear and still holds even when it gets pull in.

I'm interested. Because I think the hook design of the double works easier for putting on and taking them off the CLs.

I have also found it to be harder to remove the speed hook from the continuous loop than the double hook - need to find a speader bar now. Love the option for hanging double. The double hook does work as a speed hook but the 7/64ths I have seems to pull up into the hole pretty easily - I have not yet hung from them though. Hopefully I will get a chance to do some testing tomorrow!

I kind of agree that he entry to the hook of the Speed hook could use a little refinement. It is hard to finish the way it is too.
