This is basically how I've been doing CRL lately with a couple small modifications. I have a wasp on a continuous loop larks headed to one end and the dutch hook on a loop on the other, I'll be switching from the wasp to a fleaz whenever I get around to putting it together. I already had a 35' piece of lash-it with eyes spliced in the end for the ridge line itself. So far I really like this set up.

It's not a superfly, but same basic idea.
Interesting thanks....Looks good to me.
Have you used this mod with any sort of a snow load btw?
I see a lot of folks who are pretty hardcore winter hangers using internal vertical poles.
Has anyone used this particular set up with a moderate snow load that will comment on it?

I haven't had it out in more than a dusting. I was using the internal pole mod during the snow. The external might work with a inch or two of really fluffy stuff, but I wouldn't want to try with a with a heavy snow load since the top portion isn't steep enough to shed at all.

I'm a fan of the CRL over the SuperFly with the pole mod on top:

The poles don't touch the tarp and it gives me a little extra pull upwards. Since this photo I've switched to using my trekking poles over the CRL instead of the nanolites (saves me 4.5ozs). Using trekking poles I would definitely recommend the CRL - don't want the rougher edges of the trekking poles rubbing anything.
Yup....Hardcore hangers
what tarp is that and how are the poles attached?
looks good.
Kinda where my mind was with what the "over the top mod" could handle.
Now im sort of wondering what the benefit of the over the top mod (other than more room...which it looks like it does very well) would be concerning a snow load.
Seems like short of internal poles, having the sides at a straight pitch would work just as well.
But i am speculating.

It's a tarp I made from SilArgon. Here is the build thread, the internal poles are in the first post and external in #25.
They're calling for 1-3 inches Saturday night into Sunday. Temp is supposed to be ~20°, so it should be fluffy stuff. I'm thinking I'll try the external mod and see what happens. I'm actually wondering if a snow load might bend the poles to the point of one end slipping out of the dee.
OutandBack did quite a bit of snow tarp testing in the process of building his hot tarp a while back. You might want to find that for some interesting reading a pictures.
