Are new members allowed to include a video in a post?

I'm asking because I've searched the site and have been unable to find an answer.

I want to post an article about a certain type of hitch (mainly for guy lines, but also useful for tarp ridgelines, attaching "accessories" or items to a line etc) and the only way I can demonstrate how to tie it is with a YouTube video (admittedly, one on my own channel).

Now, I'm not trying to self-promote, not looking for new subscribers (the channel doesn't make a penny, so there'd be no gain in doing that anyway), I just would like to share the information with others because it may be as useful to them as it is for me.

Figured it's safer to ask before getting into trouble.

    Thanks

In your Quick Reply box tool bar do you not have a little film strip icon that is for inserting youtube or other video links?
Please be sure your video is on topic in the correct folder or a mod will move it to an area a non donating members can't access.

Appreciate the reply... yes there's the means to insert a video, I just wanted to be sure that it was acceptable for me to do so (because means doesn't necessarily mean permission in my experience).

I intend to post it in the "Suspension Systems, Ridgelines, & Bug Nets" forum as this would seem the most appropriate for a knot tutorial typically related to guy lines, ridgelines and general suspension use. That sound about right to you?

    Thanks again,
    Si

Hammock Forums doesn't have any restrictions about who is allowed to post video, so you're good on that front. As long as it's family friendly and on topic, post away. Welcome to the forums!

Nice video there Simon and if anybody mentions the practice of new members having to haul all the dutch ovens at the first three group hangs don't believe them. That's hazing and we do not condone hazing.
Happy Trails to one and all.
