Greetings all and Happy New Year.
I have heard from Cameron Lipscomb, the Chief Ranger at Powhatan SP. He has clarified that, due to the policies of Va SP, they cannot waive the fees for us, even with it being a "service hang." That is ok, I work for the state myself and kinda figured this would be the case. Until something has been done, it is hard to change it. He will also not be able to attend our MeetnGreet, on the 17th but I am going to get with him to show him some hammock set ups. They really have no idea what it is we use.
On a good note, I think the park is looking forward to us being there and helping out and this is a good thing. A kayak rack is on the agenda and I am going to get with Ranger Lipscomb about some other projects. I know "trail building" has been mentioned. Do not worry, we shall balance out relaxing with our "service" and try to ensure that a fun time is had by all.
Right after the MeetnGreet on the 17th keep an eye out for a sign up for this hang. Feel free to hit me with any ideas in the mean time.

Hey everyone!
I wanted to introduce myself on here. I'm new to hammock camping and just recently purchased my first one. I picked up the Hennessy Hammock Explorer Deluxe, Asym Zip. I've got a five year old boy who seems to be interested and I'm still convincing my wife to even go out camping, haha. I live in Louisa, VA - so still consider myself "Central" hahaha. Grew up in Chester. Setup my hammock this morning for a "dry" run... I'm a bigger guy and wanted to see how it would feel. It was relatively comfortable and kept me dry. Was a bit uneasy getting in at first, but I'm sure I'll get over that. #bigguyproblems lol. Anyways, just wanted to say "hey" and look forward to talking to everyone.

That's what I heard - too bad! I was actually talking with Corey in a PM and I'm very familiar with that area. I work as a firefighter in Goochland. There are some great views up and down the river!
