    Anchoring UQ to shock cord???

I love my new DIY UQ with the exception of one issue. I find that it sort of bunches up by sliding down the shock cord and sags in the middle/butt area. Is there a standard way to fix this?

My only idea for a fix is some kermantle cord prusik to the shock cord then attatched to the UQ.

is there another way to fix this before I go for it?

You can look at the suspensions of UQ mfgs and see how they suspend their UQ's.
I think a second shockcord is usually used to stop the accordian effect some quilts have.

Ah you have stumbled on the reason for primary and secondary suspension on under quilts. There are any number of approaches to resolving the issues, triangle thingies, prussiks, secondary suspensions, cord locks and more. Dig around in the DIY section searching on under quilts and you will find many solutions. Check the websites of a few of our cottage vendors to see what designs they are using.

Line looks are either end are a good way to fix the position of the ends of an under quilt on the suspension, it's what I am using. Have also tried primary and secondary suspensions and am now down to using triangle thingies to hang the quilt and line loks to position it.

A loop of grosgrain with a cord lock attached to run the main suspension through at each corner will keep the UQ in place.

There are several videos titled "LeighLo Hammock Underquilt Suspension Update", "LeighLo Underquilt Suspension" and "LeighLo Underquilt Suspension Tips" on YouTube (rpmkart channel on YouTube)

I used these for my DIY suspension and have not had any issues.

The best way would be to get the cord locks that have extra side slots for attachment. I was in a hurry and just ran the grosgrain (1/2" I think) through the locking hole with the shock cord.

I think your idea of a fix is a good one. Shock cord attached to each corner of the UQ connected to the main shock cord suspension with prusik or similar

I was recently reading through some of the work Grizz and the early bridge hammock DIY people did, there was some discussion about ways to keep the UQ from collecting in the middle.

I have not been able to get my DIY UQ to fit on different hammocks without a gap, I finally sewed some hooks on the side of my favored hammock, put a bit of line on the UQ, gave up on fitting the UQ to other hammocks.

I am going to take apart the UQ and build a different UQ I will reuse the down in the reject, ah, another lesson learned.
