    New Suspension for Yukon Double

Decided to change out the suspension on my just purchased Yukon Outfitters Double from Woot. It will also give me a chance to incorporate and test out the new speed hooks from Dutchware.
The hammock comes with a heavy brown rope and a quick link which is fed through the gathered ends. I am going to change those out with an eight inch continuous amsteel loops modified with a whipping knot.

I then attached the loop to the existing brown line, pulled it through the hammock end and cinched up the whipping knot.

Finished change out with speed hook clipped on.

Took the whole setup outside and hung it up.

In conclusion, everything worked out just as planned. With tree huggers, speed hooks and a single amsteel line per side I have an easy and adjustable hanging system.

    Cheers

Thanks for posting this. Just received mine from woot the other day and am researching suspension options for it.

Debating doing the warbonnet buckle kit. Can you explain the purpose of the whooping knot on this setup?

    Hi Keeganxt.

It's actually called a whipping knot. I am using it in this situation to cinch one end of the continuous loop around the other end so it doesn't slip through and possibly working it's way out of the gathered end of the hammock. It slides up and down. Up to cinch the loop tight against the other and down to open the loop. For a little extra insurance of the loop not coming undone(pulling through the other), I think I'm going to leave the speed hook on the continuous loop part of the suspension and not with the single line of amsteel coming from the tree strap.

Nice work with the suspension swap out, did you play with adding a ridge line to this? Just curious about how comfy the hang was?

I just ordered two Yukon hammocks from woot myself. I have a mosquito already and figured these would be good gifts. I need to upgrade the suspension too. Ideally something super simple with the hopes of getting whoever receives them hooked on hammocks.

    Thanks for your Post.

Did a hang to just test out suspension. No ridge line yet. Felt really nice for a sub $30 hammock. Not sure if I'm going to use this for overnighters.
