Stitching loop in webbing for tree straps?

I was going to order some fun tree strapping to use with Dutch Buckles but will want to have a loop in one end. What's the best way to stitch it so it holds up? Can I use my home sewing machine if I get some kind of good thread?

    Here's the strapping: http://www.strapworks.com/Polyester_s/60.htm (Getting 1 inch)

I can't sew, so I just tied a Bowline knot in one end, and that has held up for me for years. Just my 2 cents.

You should have no problem with a home machine, I use Coats heavy duty thread and a size 14 needle with a line, x and line pattern lXlXl

prof hammock says you can just do an overhand loop as well .. however you'll probably never get that knot out like you might a bowline

    Here's my recommendation.
25' of strap will cost the same at dutchwaregear.com as 11' at the link you provided.

I can appreciate the DIY attitude and have sewn my own before this realization.
Dutch ready made straps will cost you less than the webbing at the link you provided.

You can do a overhand or bowline knot. I use an overhand on a couple of my hammocks and they hold my 275 lbs just fine.

I have done many a sewn loop using my home sewing machine. I do use a contrasting colored thread so if there is an issue with the loop coming loose ect due to thread failure, it is easier to spot. So far that has not been an issue.

^^^This. The webbing you linked to is a much heavier/thicker webbing then needed and may not even work with Dutch Buckles. Order them ready made or get 1500# webbing to make your own.

Contact Strapworks directly, I believe they will sew the loops you would like in any configuration you want. But if you are set in the colorful designs then yes you should be able to sew your own loops as needed.

The Dutch Buckles were made for made for webbing with a maximum thick ness of 1.2mm or .043 inch. Anything thicker will be tough to thread trough and adjust.
