    HG long or standard?

I have a Blackbird XLT. I'm looking to buy a Hammock Gear Incubator and was wondering if I need to buy the "long" or the "standard". If it doesn't matter, what would you recommend for someone 6'1"?

I have a WBBB and a DH FreeBird and I am 6'. My first UQ was a HG full length 20* quilt. It works great for me at colder temperatures. For warmer temperatures I have a 3/4 length 40* HG UQ. That is more than good enough for the warmer temps. I also have a sit pad I can use if I get any cold spots. I am actually considering getting a 3/4 20* UQ for when I want to lighten the load a little bit while backpacking in colder temps.

If you can find someone close to you that you could try a couple of different lengths UQ before you order that would be ideal.

    BTW welcome to the forum!

FWIW, I have the long incubator and at 6'3" it covers me from head to toe. If you are counting grams/oz for backpacking maybe look at the regular. I carry mine backpacking but mostly camp at our farm and hunting camp an I love crawling in mine with no need for pads and being toasty top to bottom.

I'm 6'4" and need the long but if I was 6'1" i'd go with the regular. You sleep diagonally so if I am doing the geometry right in my head the length of the quilt diagonally exceeds the actual vertical length of the quilt.

I'm especially worried about it fitting the WBBB XLT being that it's an 11 foot hammock. Any experience with this?

I would not worry about the length of the hammock. My FreeBird is 11' long and the quilt fits it the same as my 10' WBBB? In my experience the length of the hammock allows for a more comfortable lay for taller people. You just need to adjust the UQ to where you sleep on the hammock. It will not cover the whole length of the hammock.

Very true. The diagonal on the regular length quilt would be close to 90in.

My standard Incubator is used on an XLC, also with no problems. It adjusts so you can place it right under your position on the hammock. Frankly 9' to 12' it does not matter because you are going to sleep on the adjusted UQ. At 6-2 I can even lay inline and still be well covered by the Incubator...part of the head insulation is covered with my stuff sack pillow (attached to the SRL via a prussic knotted line) though. Frankly at 6-1 anything above a standard Incubator would be overkill.
