Hello.. I'm Dan and I'm an indoor hanger..
A year ago I thought hammocks seemed like a gimmick and couldn't see the advantage for them.. I started hanging out here, researching, watching videos and reading..
My first hang was a flop, but educational.. From there it only got better to the point of it being just part of camping..
Then I decided that since my bed was old and needed replacement, what better opportunity to try indoor hanging.. I already had a 3/4 Jarbidge UQ and had made a tablecloth hammock.. I welded up a bracket for hanging and tore down my waterbed framed mattress.. I figured that the worst I would do would just go buy a new bed..
Now, 3 months later I'm enjoying my indoor hammock.. I've found that I don't use a pillow in a hammock and oils from my face do require occasional cleaning of the hammock, so I've sewn up a couple more tablecloth hammocks and I hand wash them and let them dry as needed, rotating them the same as I would with any other bedding.
I also removed the zipper from a cheap 50 degree Walmart sleeping bag, and sewed a nice footbox into it, making a perfect top quilt.. It worked so well that I bought another cheap sleeping bag and did the same, so I can launder them also, and swap as needed.
So, rather than spending hundreds of dollars on a new bed and bedding I've spend tens of dollars on my hammock/bedding/and wall brackets.. The most expensive part of my setup is the $75 Jarbidge from Paul at Arrowhead when he had his 5th anniversary sale!! (they have a sale on right now)...
My ONLY complaint is that sleeping in a hammock full time has taken a bit of the fun out of camping in one.. Now it's just basically going to bed..

The hammock stand I repurposed out of a yard swing.

Olddog,
Do you use the stand indoors or have you gone to brackets for indoor hanging?
And we've infected another. A friend of mine was interested in hanging, and he said he'd like to start out indoors.. He put an anchor in the wall of his basement and we ran from there to a center support post. I sewed a tablecloth hammock for him and made straps and Amsteel endless loops.. I also set him up with an underquilt..
Last night was his first attempt and I"m looking forward to hearing the results. I warned him that things are different and the first couple nights might be touch and go.. We shall see.

I'd love to hang indoors but my 100+ lb dog wouldn't have it. He hogs the king size bed as it is!

[QUOTE=paper;1364681]Olddog,
Do you use the stand indoors or have you gone to brackets for indoor hanging?
Yeah, still using the 'another stand' nightly. When I was looking to hang fulltime the granddaughters swing set in the back yard caught my eye but that was nixed real quick. Then I spied my wifes aunts old lawn swing in her backyard next door.
Walked over to check it out and the mold and lichen had taken over the cushions. "Aunt Carolyn what are you going to do with that old swing?" and it was mine. It's going to outlast me, just wondering what my wife will do with it when I'm gone.

I was wondering if anybody has experience specifically with the ENO Indoor Hammock Hanging kit (this one: http://www.rei.com/product/847920/en...ck-hanging-kit )
I am planning on installing it into single vertical studs near the wall corners at opposite/diagonal sides of a room. I like this mount because it is pretty discreet as far as they go. I weigh ~160lb, should I be fine with this setup??
