Not set up as up the wall, across and down the wall, you have to think of the side to side movement and pull force, If you set the framework up like a porch swing you can pull all the directions and not fall down, us veterans know that hurts. https://www.google.com/search?q=porc...w=1472&bih=628 here is a link to help you with the framework, also https://www.google.com/search?q=hamm...w=1472&bih=628 for hammock frames. Hope this helps.

Remember to be careful about blanket statements.
When talking about old/older houses that may not be true. None of the windows and in our house had any additional framing at all. Window opening was just cut out and window put in sitting on top of the cut off stud. They were only secured because of the trim, and a couple that was only on the inside, the outside brickmould was only attached to the window, not the outside boards. Some of the doors did not either, no header, no jack studs. Some corners were not double either. Though it was all full dimensional lumber. 2x4 that measured 2x4, and most 20' long (balloon framing)

It's true, my place doesn't. In fact there are only corner and one center one in each wall due to the type of construction.

Yes, understood this. I guess I was more thinking of how many people hang their hammock diagonally across the room. It's not the same as straight across and so the wall choice wouldn't have to be so specific, which is why I was asking for him to explain a little more, since I believe the person he was stating using the the perpendicular walls to were hanging from corner to corner. Does that make sense?

I just wanted to say that I have switched to a marlin spike hitch in the rope with a spike for my indoor suspension, just like I do outside with my freebird. I just loop the loops onto or off the knot and there's no extra metal rubbing to worry about. I find this more secure than the traditional rope tying method.

    Just thought I'd share.

See my file for photos, Have fun it is a blast hanging inside.

Winter time I don't mind my bed, but in summer it insulates too much and I feel hot.
Lots of good info here, I might look at hanging a hammock in my bedroom for summer so that I'm cooler and more comfortable.

For hanging a hammock inside I just found a couple studs and screwed in some eyebolts that you can get at any hardware store. P.S. I am new here and don't really know how to post. do i have to go to the forms tab and pick a topic to post or can I post directly from my page also how can I post media/pictures to my page?

If you are in a newer building (1960 and older), you should be absolutely fine. Use the calculator and get it up there. You'll wonder why you didn't do it before.

    And don't over analyse it!

Do you think putting bolt hangers in opposite corners would work?
