HH2O AutoMagic Water Collector & Rainfly Tensioner System

I purchased my first hammock this spring. I bought the Hennessy Hammock Explorer Deluxe Asym Zip. With my purchase I received complementary snake skins and the HH2O AutoMagic Water Collector and Rainfly Tensioner System. I have gone on two overnight outings since getting my hammock. I am very pleased with the hammock and I love the snake skins! I have not yet used the water collection and rainfly system. Has anybody used this system? What are your thoughts?

I recently purchased mine which came with two sets of snakeskins and a set of HH2O water collectors. I placed one set of skins on the tarp and one set on the hammock. I've never used the HH2O collectors. I have read others say that they like them and saves them the trouble of setting off in search of a local water source. My only thing is I seam to camp with birds in the trees above me and I can only imagine that the rain is not the only thing hitting my tarp. Not sure about drinking that water! Guess I would just have to be extra careful and keep an eye out for this.

Bird Poop seems to be the common concern with using this system. How valid is that concern? Are there people out there using this system? It seems like a great way to deal with the tensioning of a wet tarp.

as far as tensioning a wet hammock, works well. For drinking...only as a last resort.

Guess if its noticeable then I'd have some concerns. Same thought goes for any body of water that I would consider filtering for drinking water though. Fish, animals, birds, etc. have the ability to muck up any water source and make it a concern. Just something to think about and not think that its a perfect water source.

+1. Like collecting any water, always best to clean it up before drinking. You never know who's laughing as they pee in the water upstream...

So bird dont poop in the river? Fish? People? As said before, filter, boil or whatever u need, but water is water. Now I have to go look up a hh2o

I had posted a question about this a while back and I plan on taking them if it is calling for rain to help with the fly tension.

And if I plan on using the water I'm going to run it through my Sawyer filter as I would any water not from my tap at home.
But not making this my main water supply.

I have had the same concern and solution regarding drinking the water. I wasn't sure about how effective they would be as tensioners, but it sounds like they work.
