    Needle and Stitch type

I'm sure this info is here somewhere but since it's a quick and easy answer, I thought I'd just ask.

I'm about to sit behind the old lady's machine and start my first DIY project. Thanks to you folks and especially Ramblinrev, I finally found the courage and I'm quite excited to take the first step.

I'm picking an easy one to start: sewing a loop in some webbing for my suspension. I've watched the first 4 episodes of "We Don't Sew" and intend to watch the rest of them soon.

The question: what type needle should I use and what type of stitch? If I had to guess (based on knowledge gleaned from Ramblin), I'd say a denim needle and zig-zag stitch. Am I warm?

TIA- You all got me in stitches.....trekker

I believe the actual loop discussion is in the hang in under an hour session of the vids. It starts about 6:00 or so. But I'm not sure. A denim needle should be fine. If you use the bartack technique for the loop a nzarrow zig zag is nice but not essential. A better technique for suspenesion loops is the double bos pattern. There are other threads that refer to that pattern in detail. The double box pattern does not need to be zig zag. Although again a narrow zig zag would not be a mistake.

I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

Thanks Rev. That was easier than skimming threads.
