    Grizz Beaks for Cloudburst Tarp?

Posted this in the Warbonnet thread, but got no responses, so I thought I would try it here:

Any WBRR / Cloudburst owners using 2QZQ Grizz Beaks with their tarp? I'm debating whether to get the WB door kit or the Grizz Beaks. Any advantage to the beaks versus the door kit for the Cloudburst/Ridgerunner?

    Donna here...

Can the Grizz Beaks or door kit be used with a Ridgerunner? I ask because the hammock suspension would get in the way of shutting the doors or Grizz Beak...Yes???

In addition...If you wanted to use something for better end protection...the Grizz Beaks would have more fabric to provide better coverage, even with the suspension in the way of a complete closure.

Yes, I suspect one cannot get 100% closure due to the suspension triangle. 80-90% closure would be better than none.

Can you use beaks with a bridge hammock? Yes. I use tarps whose ridgelines are at least as long as the distance between the tops of the two suspension triangles. That means at the join point of the two beak flaps, dropping from the ridgeline to the ground, just the single line passes as with other hammocks.

Now the RR is really long and perhaps its users have tarps with ridge lines too short to permit complete enclosure of the suspension triangles, couldn't say.

The Cloudburst has an 11' ridgeline like the superfly....but the shape of the Cloudburst is more rectangular than the hex-shaped Superfly. If you got a door kit, you should be able to get the doors closed pretty well (better than Superfly)...especially on the one side of the tarp that counts based on conditions. I like to cheat my tarp a bit the head end for that purpose. Doesn't answer your actual question...but I hope it it useful information.

FWIW....2QZQ Grizz Beak made for a hex tarp trial fit on a Cloudburst over a WBRR. I assume the Grizz Beak version made for a rectangular tarp would be a nicer fit. I'm guessing that I set the tarp off center slightly to allow better closing of the doors.

    Donna here...
I don't think the Rectangular Grizz Beak would work on the Cloudburst. The sides that overlap the tarp are straight down. It wouldn't give enough overlap with the tarp. Looking at gmmcttr's picture, it does look like you could get the 2QZQ Cat Cut Grizz Beak to fit sufficiently on the Cloudburst with a RR.

I got a rectangular pair of GrizzBeaks from you, and use them on my Cloudburst. They fit nicely, full vertical overlap, and produce a heap of space. Although I have a JRB Bridge, so can't help with the RR
