HEX fly attached to Hammock Ridge Line

I have seen a few places were people have attached their HEX fly to the hammock suspension of the hammock. I have also seen others keep it separate. I understand why you would want it separate (Able to set it up first while it is raining then set hammock etc.) But wondering if the hammock and Hex fly will fit in the snake skins if you have it all together.

    Thanks

It would be possible with the stock tarp but not likely with the Hex. There is just too much product there unless you have larger snake skins made to accommodate the extra mass. Also, not advisable to put the tarp which may be wet, in the snake skins with your hammock, which should be dry. Not recommended to sleep in a wet hammock if avoidable.

You'll also find that, while not impossible, it is slightly more difficult to get a tight pitch when the tarp is attached to the hammock suspension. Dehoja offers a very nice tutorial on how to do that on his website. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSUn6zPuyFU.

    Carry on.....

Personal preference is to use a CRL separate from the hammock suspension. Give me a little more versatility in how I approach the process.

I put an Ultralight Explorer with a hex tarp in the largest HH snakeskins. It does take intentional rolling of the hammock and tarp to make it work. I have not had water drips or water transfer from top of tarp to hammock when stowed.
