I put in for the permits online. When I called they couldn't give me availability, but told me I could call back tomorrow and check.

Thank you Craig for organizing this hike. Checked the hunting schedule for Green Swamp West, and there is no hunting that weekend. So, wear your wardrobe of choice.

Just making a map along with a GPS track of where we'll be hiking, where is the Dade City trailhead? Haven't got that one marked on my Florida Trail GPS track. Is it the trailhead on River Road?

River Road would make sense. That would give us a shorter hike out. Maybe a few miles. There are trails from Foster Bridge Camp to that point labelled, "Main Entrance" on the water management district website map.

Here is the helpful map I found.

Got the reservations confirmed this morning so I will have copies for everyone to leave on their dash. Copies will be in a ziplock on my windshield. I'm planning to get to the McNeil trailhead by noon.

Yes, I believe that is the one labeled 'Main Entrance' on the SWFWMD map. We gave Grinder a ride back to there after a Richloam hike last year. Just across the river from River Road. craigc I should be there by noon but I'll be going up to where Sandra will be picking us up on Sunday. I want to make sure she's clear on the location.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

Ok, since Craig provided the satellite trail map, here is the .GPX file for where we'll be hiking along with waypoints. Hoping to add some more waypoints along the way, as that section is a little barren for points of interest.

As much as I wanted to join y'all, I cannot make it. Wife's Christmas party is this Friday (12th). Gotta go to that. Plus I wrenched my right knee and probably should try to help it heal although I need to use it everyday at work. There is water at Gator hole but you might find puddles that might look better. This part is on kinda of a bluff so water may be real scarce. I suggest loading up on the wawa. If you see water; stop and fill when you can.

I like this part of the trail. Depending on the time of the year; there is almost like a field of black eye susans that is awesome when they are in bloom!
