    Blackbird in the Boundary Waters

Went for 8 days to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northern Minnesota with my son. I used my Warbonnet hammock for the first time (besides a test night in the backyard). I used the superfly too.

Here's some pics of a few of my camps. You can see the whole trip report here. http://www.bwca.com/index.cfm?fuseac...ID=19&confID=1 My name on that board is TomT

This is a good view of the superfly. I had no choice but to get broadsided by a strong breeze so used the pull tab tie outs. I only used doors on one end for this trip.

That was a GREAT trip report!
You and Alex have made memories that will last a lifetime.
Sounded like you ate pretty well too.

Great report! My trip to the BWCA this summer was a major factor in getting into hammock camping. Can't wait for next June!

What a terrific trip and report!
I have hiked around Disappointment and Snowbank on the Kekakabic trail.
So glad your hanging went well and you stayed dry and snug.
Thankee for the pix and I want me some blueberrie pancakes.

    Great trip report!!!

I cannot wait until my son is a little older and can go camping with me. Quetico and the Boundry Waters were the backdrop for a large portion of my best childhood memories.

Thanks for the kind words you guys. And Shug, you're not too far from the BW. Ever give a canoe trip a thought?

Where in the BWCA did you go? It looked like you had a nice sand beach in an area mostly dominated by rocks and water.

That was on Alice Lake. I had heard there were sand beaches there but never dreamed they would be so huge. Along the east shore there are 5 or 6 real nice sand beach sites. A few real nice ones on Insula Lake too.

We went the 2nd week of august and the blueberries were really ripe for picking. The sandy shores had lots of blueberry bushes. We found an island that wasn't picked over and filled 2/3 of a nalgene jar with sweet blueberries to take home.

The BWCA is really an original place. Everyone should experience a canoe trip there at least once.
