    double box hammock

I was just laying in my hammock thinking about what making a hammock with a foot box would entail and I thought I wonder inf anyone has ever put there head in a foot box? dose that work? (the rest of this post relies apon that kind of working) What if instead of one foot box on the side of the hammock why not 2 foot boxen (pluralized like oxen) along the center of the hammock I tryed to sketch up what i meant in sketch up. I think it would involve one spreader bar in the center of the hammock but I'm not sure. Thoughts?

Seems like you're getting pretty close to bridge hammock territory.

Has anyone ever laid with their head in the footbox of a Blackbird? What if you had that expanded area at each end, asymmetrically? You'd lay in it on an angle, as usual, but it should not have any shoulder squeeze at all. A footbox and a shoulder box. Hmmm...

    Anybody tried this?

I don't think it would buy you much space, and it would feel crazy claustrophobic. I'm having trouble seeing any benefits.

I have briefly laid "backwards" in my blackbird and it wasn't much different comfort wise, but I'd rather have the netting over my head than the footbox.

mustardman is correct, the head end and foot end of the bb are basically the same, the foot end is a little narrower since there is only one "corner" whereas the head end has 2 corners. foot end is covered with fabric, wheras the head end has netting.

So on this hike my sons and I did a couple of weeks ago, I helped one of them set up the hammock, but didn't think to offer instructions on use.

He did exactly what you described.

He said in the morning he liked the hammock but why was there all this fabric in his face

We had a training session and the next night was better.

Ah, ok, thanks. I've never seen a BB in person. I'm looking forward to seeing one in October on the Northern Hang.

    Still so much to learn!
