This may be useful if you decide to do a channel end. This version is sort of a hybrid of it. I like it because it locks the ridge line and the suspension together without having sharp bends in the Amsteel and secures the hammock ends from ever coming out. No worries of seams ripping or whipping slipping off. And it allows for a clean installation of an integrated bugnet if you go that route.

That's a great finish like the use of the ridge line and suspension line lark headed together.

Channeled ends are very doable. However, I'm not a big fan of 'em with lighter (sub-1.6 oz/sq yd) fabrics, due to the stresses involved and the very thin threads that the fabric weave is made out of. I prefer a whipped end (the Warbonnet/Knotty method), as I feel that it's more foolproof and less likely to drop me at 3 AM some night when I'm >50 miles from civilization. While that wouldn't be a trip-ender (well, unless I'm very unlucky, since I don't hang over things that could brain me if I can help it), it would be uncomfortable.

    YMMV, of course.
