Old Rag Mtn Quilt with Suspension System

Today, a few hrs ago, I pulled the trigger on an old rag mtn and the quilt suspension system. I intend on using as both an UQ and a TQ...depending on the season. Is there a video out there on how to rig it up? I maybe able to figure it out, but I'm excited and trying to learn and be prepared when it comes. Thanks in advance.

I used to have an Old Rag Mountain and did use it for both a top quilt and under quilt but used it more as a top quilt in cold weather. Worked very well. All you really need to rig it up as an under quilt is some shock cord with some strong cord locks for adjustability and then loop the shock cord over the whipping at the ends of your gathered end hammock. No hardware needed unless you are using a gathered end hammock with a sewn channel or a bridge hammock. In that case you'd probably wanna go with some small carabiners to clip the shock cord to hammock suspension. I sometimes would also make use of the side grosgrain loops to add a length of shock cord to run over the top of the ridge line to help lift the quilt a bit in the center. The Old Rag Mountain is a pretty thick puffy quilt and pretty warm. You'll like it.

I have one of Dutchs Aargon hammocks. I think that's a sewn end channel. what about cinching up the ends? is there shock cord in the channels of the quilt when its laying flat? My impression is yes.

Shug did a very detailed video on under quilts. The first example in the video is using a JRB Hudson River as an under quilt. I'd think the process would be very similar. I'd insert a link, but to be honest I do not know how.

There are cinch cords on each end for closing the ends up as needed. There are grosgrain loops on each of the four corners to tie shock cord to. I preferred to tie on a length of shock cord to each corner grosgrain loop and passing the ends of each piece of shock cord at each end through a cord lock. Then I tied a knot behind the cord lock. To adjust the shock cord you just pull the cord further through the cord lock until you get the tension right. Snug but not overly tight.

I think Shug has a video of Shug in the 3rd person or maybe even Karl dining on the delicacy of boiled peanuts. I'd reckon a fella could pass a lot of time learning about the culinary delights of boiled peanuts.
