Here's to you! (clink, gulp) May you have enough wind to keep the bugs away, and enough shade to never get burned. Have a great trip!

There is no try, only do.
please give us updates on what and how your setup functions in the early, cold months of your trip. I'm very new, like just ordered my hammock/tarp setup. Hoping to dial in vto dial in comfortable cold weather sleeping. Happy trails and don't forget to hike your own hike. Plans should only be flexible suggestions. I hike the AT every May, my only advice is don't be afraid to take a zero day every now and then.helps maintain your sanity, get rehydrated, clean gear and just recharge. YOU GOT THIS!!!.
Good luck on your adventure! Had the opportunity to listen to a 2x thru-hiker talk about his journey and found myself itching to go myself. Ive hiked small portions of the trail and cant believe that the views and beauty I've seen are only a fraction of what you'll see.
Wishing you miles of smiles, trail angels, and tons of trail magic!
Thanks for all the well wishes and such from all of the fine folks here on the forum. I'm currently cooling my heels in a hotel in Dahlonega, Ga. Awaiting a mid morning start. Due to fs rd 42 being slick from the latest storm I will be doing the approach trail...ugh. Oh well it's just another 8miles right?
The weather for the first few days is supposed to be rainy so I will get to test my equipment and my technique, should be fun.
I will try and update here from time to time as well as on tj. Just look me up over there under awesome.
Oh yeah. I almost forgot I had my username here changed from walkinslow to my trail name, awesome. I thought it might be easier for me to keep up with. Once agin thanks for answering all of my questions and guiding me along the way.
Best of luck and take your time on the approach trail as it is steep but it has lots of places to set up a hammock if you get tired and need to take a break.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
congrats and safe hiking... pics...
Have a great hike! (You already have a great boss.)
I personally don't think he made it - last journal entry was 3/14/15.
