    Whoopie slings

So, not too sure if this is the right place to post this, moderators, move if needed please.

After reading all the posts advising against using the Harbor Freight diamond braid poly rope for my whoopie slings, I used them anyway with success!!! I will be ordering whoopie slings from Dutch anyway.

So, I just put a couple hooks in the 2x4's then put the fixed eye from the sling on that with the adjustable portion of the sling lark's headed around the hammock. Is that how it is supposed to be attached?

Also, that UQ is a DIY project that was super simple. Basically, I just took a Walmart sleeping bag ($15) and cut that sucker down the middle, stitched it back up, installed 4 grosgrain loops on the corners, and shock corded the head and foot end and put a toggle on there to bunch up the ends. Also put shock cord on the loops for suspension. It works pretty good indoors.

Anyway, those whoopie slings that I made held really well, no stretch, no slipping, nothing! I hung for about 3-4 hours and I am roughly 190-200#'s.

With the adjustable end larks headed to the hammock, they are no longer adjustable. They should be installed with the fixed eye end larks headed to the hammock, allowing the easy adjustment at any time.

Yes, although some have the whoopie sling positioned that way, but have a short continuous loop larks headed to the hammock and connect the sling to the CL with a Dutch whoopie hook or a biner to maintain adjustability while being able to pack a wet suspension separately.

Gotcha. My last setup, that worked for a while but got worried after reading a lot, was a knotted loop of paracord larkshead on the gathered end, then a beiner (climbing) being used as the toggle on my tree straps which are the Harbor Freight 1".

I have since upgraded the straps, and want to go with the whoopie slings with the whoopie hooks and the cont. loop on the hammock.

I got them on there, can't wait to try them out! I should be going on a weekend trip right after Christmas, so that would be my first outing with them.

Didn't get to make the ridgelines tonight, but everything is up and functional. I'll probably make it tomorrow at work or on my lunch. Let me know what you guys think, or any suggestions would be appreciated.
