    Hammocks are magical.

So a little over two weeks ago, I stopped into the local outdoors store to find my little 2 1/2 year old girl a jacket. We didn't find a jacket, but she did see a very shiny hammock (A Grand Trunk Parachute Double) hanging from the ceiling. I had always wanted to try a hammock, having done motorcycle and bicycle camping, as well as backpacking. Why the heck not?

Fast forward to now and I've purchased a second hammock (Eno Singlenest) because I couldn't get my little girl or my wife out of the double, I've got 4 hooks in my wall, whoopie slings are headed to me in the mail, and now I'm looking for a bag to serve as a DIY pod system in addition to narrowing down tarp options. And NOW I'm on hammock forums. I'm pretty much gone.

I can still barely keep the wife and kid out of the hammocks. Might have to buy a third...

And a special thanks to Shug for his entertaining and informative vids. You are a treasure trove of insanity.

Welcome to the forum and glad the family is in love with hammocks.

Now, do they like Shug vids? My kids love them, my wife, not so much.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

My teenagers roll their eyes when I watch a Shug video...especially when I start laughing and spouting weird phrases like, whoooo buddy. My brother in law, he appreciates it completely. Thanks to Shug, I convinced him to start hammock camping in a big way. We even spend nights out in our back yards. 40 yr olds sleeping/camping in the back yard. Maybe this is the new fountain of youth. Whooo buddy. Enjoy the ride.

Watch out! Sounds like you are a hammock enabler, and are good at it. Infected three of my buddies with hammock bug by innocently letting them lay in mine. Same thing happened when I made them a Zing Zang Bloody Mary.

I am a couple of purchases ahead of you. They do not stop. It only gets worse. And you willing turn a blind eye to the expense. Classic definition of addiction. Has there ever been a hammock intervention yet?

Welcome! Enjoy this sweet journey, and travel well.

Welcome to the madness! start looking for a used "thread injector" now so you can start building gear for the family.

Showed some to the wife and kiddo earlier tonight and they seem to be fans.

I know all about addiction and turning a blind eye to the expense (my wife, not so much ). Between bicycles and camping in general, I've also been down the DIY path several times. I have a lovely sewing machine and have even made bags for lightweight bicycle touring. Madness all around.

    Thanks for the warm welcomes!

    Magical indeed.

Welcome, as others have said. We understand you. You have found a new home.

    Happy hanging.
