Just came across this. That's some good eats right there.
I will definitely bring food of some sort. I am not sure what yet, but I'm thinking I will make a stew or chili ahead of time and just plan to warm it over the fire or put it into a crock pot. (do you have an electrical outlet outside?).
I do have a cheapie overhead shelter thingie. it's just 5 poles and a blue tarp and am happy to bring it if you think we need it.

Can do on the Kelty.
I also have a 10x10 pop-up canopy I can bring.
I'd like to bring my YATS if I have enough room in the mini van...
May even try and fit my new Sputtle I just finished this weekend.
But, I'm thinking this is the best place to post a couple of questions:
I'm planning on bringing dd's ENO Doublenest, Atlas straps, bug net and one or more tarps. Basically, the set-up we will be using for the hang. I am hoping this will help if Mr. Gresh does come, so he can see a set up and how tree-safe hammock camping can be.
Given the fact that I have never hammock-camped, would one or more of you be willing to help me set it up so I can practice? I'm a kinesthetic learner and need hands-on. I'm mostly nervous about the tarp situation, but could use pointers on how to choose appropriate trees and how to get the hammock to hang correctly for the best lay.
As dd said the other day when she was explaining hammock sleeping to one of her friends, "If you can't find your sweet spot, then something is up with your hammock."
At home, it's easy. Just hang your caribiner on the eye hook and you're all set!
Also, if anyone has equipment that they are willing to sell or lend us for the trip please send me a PM. I'm starting to gather necessary items little by little. April will be here before we know it!
I have a few hammocks, tarps, and assorted bits and bobs I was going to toss in the back of my xTerra for the meet and greet. I think between the twenty or so of us, we can get you figure out with just about every opinion you could ever not want. I'll have a few different suspensions (speedhooks, whoopies, dutch hooks, my new tarpworms....essentially everything from the Dutch catalog ) with me for fiddling with as well.

Running, that sounds like my original set-up (minus the bugnet, didn't have one of those)...like wanderlust said, I'm sure we can get you squared away with plenty of opinions, options, and knowledge.
As for the warm-up shelter ideas, I've got a 6x10 tarp I can bring that we could use as a windbreak/wall for one of the larger tarps or pop-ups.
Out of curiosity, does anybody attending have a 10 ft hammock (preferably one of the options from Hammeck.com) capable of handling a fat guy (~345lbs) that they could bring and let me try out? I've been considering selling my XLC and getting something in the 10 ft range from Hammeck, but I'd like to be able to try one out before making that move...
Hey Corey, and all others. I must back out of my spot for the backyard hang. I will need to go into work Sunday, and would not be able to make it back to work in time from Richmond. Sorry I'll miss out on the group, but I'll have my new turtle dog stand complete, so I might be able to hang around here.
Wraith, it may not be 10' but my new DL is Aragon 90 and 1.1 and holds me (265-ish) no sweat. I'm planning on just throwing my assorted mix of DIY hammocks, bug nets, and tarps in the van.
And I am in total agreement about the HYOH and see what the other guy has and swap ideas and learn from each other.
Is 5 hrs gonna be enough??? ,-)
