I'm still probably going to figure out last minute if I'll make it. I mentioned it to my son, and he wants to go, but I'm not sure if he's ready. Gotta see how cold it's going to get.

Group meals are fun, and Gallo THINKS he had the best chili at last year's Michigan hang. If I come, I'll plan on bringing a Dutch oven full of chili. :-)

With cast iron you use the coals from fire or set in/next to fire

So I take it that it is more potluck style. Got it. I know you are all itching to pull out your 0 degree quilts, but I don't have that so I'm definitely praying for the 30's.

I got a response from the Will county park district concerning the locked gate to the lower parking lot of McKinley woods, they will not open it for us stating it will remain locked until april 1st. What that means is we need to bring everything in from Channahon State Park which is a 3 mile hike or bike ride in. Wish i had better news but i guess thats what local gov. considers working with tax payers.

The camp site we go to is controlled by the state of illinois, thats open, and the canal trail is open, except we cant unload gear closer like we have in the past until April 15th when they reopen the lower lot at McKinley woods.

An underquilt for my son might just do the trick. I'll be in touch. Thanks!
