Posting in "Introduce Yourself" doensn't count?

I noticed that my replies in the "Introduce Yourself" section does not count towards your total number of posts and was wondering why.

As a new member I know how nice it feels to receive a warm welcome.
I have especially enjoyed the "What Made You a Hanger" thread... some wonderful nostalgia there!

I would like to think this section of the forums counts for just as much as the others and new membership helps to keep things lively and growing!
    Any insight would be welcome!

I meant to post this in "Site Questions" forum section...

If Mods could move it here I would be grateful...
    Sorry I messed up!

I believe the posts don't increment when you post to "Introduce Yourself" because it was a highly popular place for people to elevate their post count in order to quickly reach 50 posts and be able to sell something. Just a way to circumvent HF TOS rule VI A:

You must have a minimum of 50 posts before starting a new For Sale thread. Bypassing this rule by posting rapidly to raise your post count is not allowed, and will result in loss of access to the Marketplace forums.

Some rules do seem a bit weird, but then again, I always find it weird that people think the rules don't apply to them. I've seen several instances of people posting 30 or 40 times in a day just so they can sell something. How weird is that, that they think the rules don't apply to them and they won't get caught?

I considered that in fact, but I guess I was hoping it wasn't true.

Getting used to a member is important. I have seen forum debates in other places (mainly gaming forums) decided by the faulty logic that if one person has more posts that they must be more knowledgeable than the person who has fewer posts.

The question is more a curiosity than anything.
I know that there are many people, including myself who are more readers than posters don't have any ill intentions.

    Thank you for the insight!

I'm strictly speculating on the impetus behind the rule. A mod will probably give a better explanation of it.

So there are forums where they think people with more posts are knowledgeable? Certainly not this forum - I just passed 7,000 posts and nobody listens to me!

I noticed that also, now I know the reason that makes sense. In my situation I wanted to post in the "Pay it forward" section and give away some gear to someone less fortunate then myself but need 50 posts to enter. this will be my 18th post. Slowly but surely approaching the big 50......LOL

TITW, don't let post count stop you from a warm welcome to others. Like SS said, this particular subforum doesn't help to accrue any post #'s to keep hundreds of post counts just to say "welcome". We hope you add to threads by questions and answers because they help so many folks.

SS, it's not your post count, it's your content I, for one, very much enjoy most of your content. It makes for an overall, well rounded discussion and that's one of the positives of this forum. You have great insight and I appreciate that.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

We listen to you man.. your stories are always captivating, and very memorable. But the good ones usually involve a camp fire, and a beer.

They might be able to set up a system that could be the best of both worlds: posts in introduce yourself only count after 100 posts (or whatever number they see fit). I'm just not sure that people with more than 50 posts care about their number anymore.

It's important to understand human behavior.

It's not always motivated by money.

Finding a community of interest is exciting to people -- new friends in a world that is increasingly unfriendly. Instant positive regard is not that common any more.

So, a person may post a lot in the welcome forum just because he is a friendly guy and glad to be here.
