I am looking into making my own down underquilt as my next project.
I have two Hennessy Exp hammocks and I really get a much more comfortable lay using the side tie-outs. Even if I make my own hammocks in the future I see myself making them in the asym style, or something like Dream Hammock's Roaming Gnome, w the duel side tie-outs.
The only thing I could find about making underquilts fit the Hennessy hammocks is "don't use the tie-outs."
So, I am looking for a way to design a baffled underquilt, that has some sort of way of still being able to use the hammock tie-outs without the underquilt preventing that, or laying funny because of the tie-outs.
Iv'e seen the Potomac, and have found a diagram of how they cut the asym underquilt, but I can not find the old thread that gave the step by step instructions for it, nor do I know hoe to convert that idea to a baffled design.
I sort of envision a big, nice underquilt that has some sort of velcro opening or slit in the side where you can run the tie-outs out of but am certainly not skilled enough to design it on my own. I am not even sure if that is in any way a good idea.
Any thoughts ideas or links that may help?
Anyone using an already-talked-about design AND still using the HH tie-outs without an issue? I made myself a PLUQ and it is just impossible to get it snugged up, comfy, and still be able to use the tie-outs. It pulls in, creating a weird cramped lay, and saggy bugnet in the Hennessy.
