Was at Hancock today with the wife and found some riptop on clearance! .75/yard! And got 9 yards.
Came home and was wondering if there was any way to figure out the weight, without a scale? Or if there was only one weight that Hancocks carry?

I have no idea what weight it might be. To find out, make sure you know the EXACT length and width of the fabric, weigh it then divide it by however many yards you have in total.
9 yards = 324" if it's 60" wide then 324X60 = 19440 sq inches = 15y2. If the whole lot weighs 30oz then it'll be 2oz per square yard.
Nice find! I need to start following my wife into the fabric stores.
Most likely 1.9 oz.
After thanksgiving I ventured into a couple of Hancock's and found some gray waterproof sport material "polyester blend". 1.00 a yard, 29 yards all together. And now I know how to figure the weight. Thanks Ace and craige.
