    Backpacking Pillow

Getting an 11' Argon from Dutch, and looking to buy a pillow that I can take backpacking. I just purchased a WL Full Length Summer Series Underquilt, and I have a 20* Sierra Designs Down Bag that I will use as a top quilt. When I hang inside I just use my full size pillow from my bed, but looking for something of substantial size, yet light and packable. Does such a thing exist? Not opposed to Down, Synthetic, or Air pillows. My options are pretty open.

Black Rock Gear makes or did make a really awesome down pillow but I believe you have to email them about availability. I think Wilderness logics also makes a down one. Heard of some people using those inflatable travel pillows as well.

I use a Cocoon Travel Pillow (the one shaped like a mummy hood), and I love it. Very adjustable, packs small, and weighs 3.5oz on my scale...

The Montbell & Exped inflatables are the ticket for me.

Down compresses too much for comfort (an advantage in the pack though). Synthetic is too big.

The above inflatable are juuuuuuust right for back or side sleeping. My beanie or buff on my head completes the comfort.

I have used the air pillows and down pillows. The Hammock Gear down pillow was my choice for hammocking.

Ooo, I'm glad you posted this! I do NOT like air pillows in the hammock, they have a will of their own and are all over the place. I think I'd like one of these!

I'm wondering how some people are using full-size pillows (or even the 3"+ thick blow-up ones) in a hammock. Your head is already angled upwards when in a hammock - you really don't need anything more than the Arrowhead cub pillow for behind your neck (that's what I've used so far at least). Mine weighs 4.4 ounces with stuff sack and elastic leash.

I carry kidney shaped stuff sack that I stick any unworn clothing in. Usually it's a down jacket wrapped around a t-shirt so it doesn't get fully pancaked but is still downy luxury.
