Nice job. It's fun, isn't it? What tool(s) did you end up using? I love my Dritz loop turner.
Well, I need advice on this point. All I had on hand were large sewing machine needles from an old sewing kit. These were fine for working with mason's line, but I don't expect them to work so well with any of the more robust ridge line materials. Where did you get the Dritz?
There are two kinds of people in the world: those who say there are two kinds of people, and all the others.
+1 on the loop turner. Works great on dynaglide and larger. I used it on 2.2mm zing-it once, but it was pretty tight.
I just use Cat5 cable for zing-it/lash-it now... or picture hanger wire or whatever it's called. Whatever the stuff is at Home Depot... zooks or something. It comes rolled in a blister pack that is the dispenser, and has a little cutter on the cardboard backing of the package.
Like thrash metal? Check out my nephew's band, Deathwatch. He's an amazing drummer... https://soundcloud.com/user-660860695
That is the truth. Amazing amount of satisfaction to think you spliced something that is adjustable and takes the dynamic load of hammock entry/exit.
Really something how relaxing it is. I splice after breakfast on the weekend, just sitting around the table chatting. Sometimes at night watching TV. Very chill activity.
Do NOT hang with those.
+1000 on the loop turner, can get them anywhere but if you are ordering from Dutch anyway. If you are not sure if you are ordering from Dutch soon, give him a call and he will let you know if you are.
I have about 100 old sailing needles I picked up off of ebay. Always have them with me, next time I see you, remind me. Also, actual fids are nice but take away from the luddite DIY thing. I too use stripped wire but mine is the core from old RG58 cable.
