i think Woolite works. It is a surfactant and not a detergent?
fwiw, my "shop vac" is labeled '6.5 HP max' which i did not use ohm's law to discover the true rated power, but its likely 3hp at best

Dreft --Baby laundry soap (pink box) is a good super gentle soap that has no harsh cemicals for washing down goods. In the laundry or baby section at most grocerie stores. But like Rev said plain water is probably the best choice. I washed a down coat a year ago that had not been cleaned in close to ten years, Amazing how much dirt down can hold, and how much warmer and more loft clean down has.

Thanks for kudos. I've not used them, too warm but my wife used the gray one in 60 degree rainy weather and liked it. I'll pack them and show that sometime but for now I'm off to the lake!
Terraplane
I use Sport Wash by ATSKO, found in the camping section at Wally world for about $5 a bottle. Each bottle is about 18 loads and doesn't contain any UV brighteners or any extra chemicals.
Terraplane - Those are some lofty quilts! Nice work!
Yes, great work on your quilts man! They have some serious loft. I am glad you made some differential cuts. I was a little concerned that all of that loft would get compressed when you attached them to the underside of the hammock. Next you will have to take some pics of them in action!
