Definitely! I was checking out some photos online and it looks like a nice view.
I may also check this bunker thing on the hike in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvaogFAiuGY

Wow, -7 Thursday night forecast for the early arrivals! We'll be following the smoke from the campfire when we arrive Friday morning. Looks like Friday night is going to hit -3, which my JRB greylock 4 should be fine, along with doubled TQs. Previous lowest low for me was 7 at Reid Lake last month with Squirrelbait, so this will interesting.
I'm tossing in a cheater log to get a fast fire going Saturday morning. Some coffee from the hammock would be nice if anyone is up early and gets the perc going.....hint hint
I bet it could get even colder than -3°. Seems like I have to subtract a good 5° from the forecast every time I camp in central northern MI away from all the cities.
-5°F was the coldest I've hung. The material of my Osprey backpack felt more like brittle crinkly plastic than the usual soft nylon. Getting chills thinkin about it!
I'm going to cheat and do my usual Starbucks via from the hammock
We checked it out last October. It's closer to the cabin than the parking lot and we should be able to find. Great place to hunker down if the weather gets real bad. My guess is that it held a generator to power the many cabins that used to be there. There's a small hole up in the ceiling from the exhaust pipe too. Add it to the "to do" list of weekend activities.
SNOW! Maybe 1-3" Tuesday to freshen things up, 1-3" Saturday night, then 3-5" Sunday. We'll see!
Me,squirrel bait and Dave are going to grab breakfast Friday morning at big boys in gaylord at 7:30 if anyone else is interested.
Big Boys is a great place to muster the forces!
The temptation to come in and warm up for a bit and have some strawberry waffles is there and I'll be keeping that in mind as an option..
After a late night on Thursday I probably will be having what is famously referred to in Scottish Brogue as, "Breakfast from the Hammock."
I might, MIGHT be awake when you guys come dragging your pulks up the trail...
I'm really wondering how much of the river will be open water or if it will be crusty! I know its fast moving but these are some COLD temps.
I can't make breakfast, but may need to stop at Spike's in Grayling for a Spikeburger on the way home!
I should be to the parking spot by 11am and to the camp around Noon or so.
I'm going to bring a few bottles of water just so I can make coffee in the hammock other than that I think I can find a way to get water from the river if not melt snow. I think if we keep some water in the cabin with the heat going it shouldn't freeze.
