    AllTrails.com Pro

    I was doing some browsing around tonight and stumbled onto alltrails.com; seems like a good website with lots of information on trails, hiking and camping. Does anyone here use the "pro" version? Is it worth it? Thanks in advance.

    I use it and love it. I've been a paying member for 2 years. I make custom maps and then use them on the app. Definitely worth it to me.

    All Trails or other hiking phone aps.

    I am wondering if The Lone Star Trail in Texas is on All Trails. Is the entire Appalachian Trail on it. How often do they update?
    what experiences have others had with this program? Good question AUTiger. Hopefully you will get more responses. I have only played with the free version and the trails I needed have not been available with it.

    I think I am going to try the Pro version. Researching trails is half the fun for me and a good time killer at work........I mean home.

    Bev;

    Load Maprika to your phone or tablet. Maprika supports the LST and will accurately show your position on the maps that you can load here:

    http://lonestartrail.org/maprika.html

    The app basically turns your phone or tablet into a GPS and you do not need to be connected to the internet to get it to work.

    Another option is the "PDF Maps" app by Avenza. There are lots of free topo maps available in the app, and you can upload .kml files from the web that mark most major trails. Works using the phone's GPS and doesn't require a data connection - you just have to download everything before you leave.
