I know it's been a mild winter (at least in my region: 43°F in Ontario), but I'm curious how many of you have weathered ice storms without freezing. What is the coldest you've gone, and, more importantly, what set up did you use?

In a hammock so far, not cold at all. In a tent I did about -15C with a cold, dry outflow wind at Cultus lake park in BC in the mid 90's in a 3 season, 3 man dome tent in a bag rated for -10 or so, nothing like going to bed at night not knowing if you will wake up in the morning. Worked out fine and I took advantage of another similar outflow wind situation last winter to do a -9C camp out in the same tent but a much higher rated bag system, the USGI 4 part sleep system. Maybe this winter we will get some cooler weather that I can challenge myself in the hammock setup.
The coldest weightlifting outdoors was between -7 and -10 but not sure that's what you meant! In a rent about the same degrees. In my hammocks I have yet to do any real winter camping but I hope to rectify that soon.

This past year at the Fourth Annual Florida Hang in January 2014. The recorded low was 23*F.
DIY 10.5' Gathered End Hammock. DIY tarp with doors. DIY 2 layer Climashield-like partial length UQ, no foot pad(unfortunately). DIY synthetic TQ with snaps and drawcord footbox.
Only my feet were cold, but, I have fixed that with a footpad and a sock for the open hole. I did get a chill in my shoulders when the wind moved the UQ a little and I wouldn't recommend this setup for most. Also, this set up was at the bottom end of comfort for me.
A proper 20*F setup is in the works. Closed footbox TQ and little longer synthetic fill UQ will be just fine.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

In that cold snap last winter, we had several, I did a -22 F in high winds (wind chill was -35 F) with no tarp for about half a night in the backyard. My goal was 2 hours and I stayed nearer 4, I think I could have just stayed out all night if I'd have put up the tarp. Was a very telling experience of the effect of wind. I could feel the difference during the brief periods when the winds would calm down for a few minutes then pick back up again as it pulled the warmth out of my insulation very quickly. I only came indoors because I wasn't getting a good restful sleep and I had to work the next day.
I doubled up my 20* phoenix, 0* Incubator, 20* and 0* burrows with lots of layers of clothing, down hood and booties.
My only real problem was my shoulders and back which were taking the brunt of the wind, otherwise it was a good setup. A piece of reflectix might have been the fix. Oh well, next time.

Me and 'Possum hit 17° and 19° on consecutive nights on weekend. I was using an 11' DIY gathered end hammock, my SPE with 3/8" CCF and an extra CCF pad on top of that. For the top I used a 50/50 mummy bag (synthetic on bottom and down on top) zipped up.
I have been down to 20° with the Molly Mac Universal underquilt and same mummy bag.
I just got a new AHE underquilt and top quilt this year and I am REALLY wanting to test the boundaries!
