Hennessy tarp on other hammocks?

I saw a great deal on a Hennessy Explorer Deluxe 70D Polyester tarp and was wondering…Can these be used for non-Hennessy hammocks or are these specifically designed for the HH? I have a WBBB btw.

You can definitely use them with other hammocks. You may want to get suspension, as your WBBB will not have the suspension attachments on its own suspension. Where was the great deal? Was it a hex tarp or the standard diamond?

That is a great deal. You can add a pair of mitten hooks to your WBBB suspension, of course, but you will probably be happier if you buy some suspension for the tarp separate. You can do it very inexpensively using braided masons line, as you don't need to carry a lot of load with the suspension.

I almost grabbed one of those the other day myself. For a diamond shaped tarp it provides a lot of coverage. The price is nice too!

I should sell the one I have sitting around from my UL Explorer days! Sure, just requires ridgeline tie outs, but can use on any hammock. Two reasons I don't use it now... 1) I use a longer hammock, and 2) you have to have it pulled down on or close to your ridgeline to get really effective coverage, and I like to hang my tarp high.

p.s. there are others making diamond tarps which may actually be a better value.

Not a bad deal but IMO the coverage it offers is not sufficient for a larger range of weather conditions. I'd rather spend a bit more money to have better coverage. It would be fine in a straight down rain but if there is wind blown rain you might find your hammock getting wet.

If you have it pulled down on you, it covers the hammock just fine for all but the most blustery windblown rain. That's the way its intended to be deployed as it attaches to the HH ridgeline.

I have found that the hennessy tarp is very difficult to use and also would be nearly impossible to set up right in a storm. Great tarp for a beginner in a soft rain storm but when it starts down pouring with any wind expect your hammock to take on some water.
